Local leaders in partnership with security organs in Rwanda’s Eastern Province have today stepped up road safety awareness through various activities that included repainting zebra crossings.
The road safety awareness drive follows a series of road accidents that were attributed to mostly reckless motorists and bicycles riders.
Residents in the sectors of Mayange and Nyamata in Bugesera District displayed placards with messages aimed at promoting road safety.
Fred Mufulukye, the Governor of the region led the well-attended campaign when survivors of road accidents took the occasion to call on the general public “to be vigilant while using the roads”
Only on the night of July19, the Police impounded some 128 taxi motorcycles after motorists fell short of rules and regulations enforced to ensure safety for all road users.
