Ugandan authorities have today deported MTN CEO, a Belgian national Wim Vanhelleputte, local media confirmed. A deportation letter signed by Gen. Jeje Odongo's letter executing the MTN Chief’s deportation is making the rounds in the media.
“And I further declare that this order shall be carried into effect by the removal of the said Wim Van Vanhelleputte by deportation and while awaiting to be conveyed to the place of departure shall be kept in custody.” Odongo reportedly said.
The reasons for Uganda’s action against the MTN Chief had not been established by press time.
Early this month Ms Annie Tabura, a Rwandan national and MTN chief marketing officer Olivier Prentout, a French were along with Italian Elsa Mussolini, the general manager for mobile money deported.
