The World Health Organization (WHO) released a new report that shows that 36 newborn babies, seven of whom are under two years are among the new Ebola cases found over the week.

North eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has been paralyzed by the worst ever Ebola outbreak since August 2018.

WHO says the babies are infected with the dreadful disease through breast milk.

Since DRC hosted the latest outbreak WHO had reported 386 Ebola cases as of November22 of whom 339 had tested positive. The report further said that 219 had died 172 of them were confirmed being Ebola cases.

However, skirmishes in this region have adversely affected the progress of Ebola response.

On November 14, MONUSCO suffered a heavy loss of eight peacekeepers during one of the deadliest gun battles with ADF rebels in Kididiwe near the regional capital of Beni in North Eastern DRC, leading to a temporary suspension of the Ebola fight. Seven were Malawians and one was a Tanzanian.
