Ugandan High Court sitting in the northern town of Gulu Monday granted bail to reggae singer turned opposition politician and 11 of his colleagues after several bail applications, local media has reported.

Legislator Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and 11 others on treason charges including three lawmakers out of the 33 suspects received bail to basically enable them access treatment, the High Court said. The fate of the others will be known later today.

Bobi’s peers set free by the High Court include MP-elect Kassiano Wadri for Arua Municipality,  Gerald Karuhanga (Ntungamo Municipality), Paul Mwiru (Jinja East MP) and former legislator for Makindye, Mike Mabikke.

Information reaching The Light Magazine News Desk shows that Bobi Wine and Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Zaake are set to travel to London for treatment and hence none of the suspects had their travel documents retained by the Court.

The released treason suspects will return to the Gulu High Court on August30 and will be reporting thereafter depending on the Courts’ discernment.

There was heavy security presence at the Court premises as events took another twist this morning and today’s court ruling by far settled the storm that was set in motion by the arrest and re-arrest of the renowned reggae singer, events which had appealed public sympathy domestically and globally.

Their fate started on August13 when they allegedly attacked the person of President by pelting stones at President Yoweri Museveni’s motorcade.

However, Hon. Kassiano Wadri is barred by the same court to return to his Constituency to allow investigations and prevent more crime scenarios.
