FIFA postpones inspection visit to Rwanda

The World soccer governing body, FIFA, has postponed an inspection visit to Rwanda which was scheduled from February 20 to 24, 2018, the visit was aimed at inspecting stadiums and other facilities for the country’s 2019 U-17 World Cup bid.
According to a statement posted on Ferwafa.rw, FIFA communicated to Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) on Monday that it had postponed the inspection visit due unforeseen circumstances and will announce a new date.
The FIFA officials alongside FERWAFA and the Ministry of Sports was to inspect the proposed stadiums, training facilities, hotels and hospitals in Kigali City, Bugesera District, Huye District, Muhanga District, Musanze District and Rubavu District respectively. The inspection willl assess both the existing stadiums as well as other stadiums which are planned to be constructed.
Rwanda is bidding for 2019 U-17 World Cup alongside Kenya and Singapore but FERWAFA boss, Vincent Nzamwita is confident that Rwanda will become the third African country to host the championship after Egypt in 1997 and Nigeria in 2009.
In November last year, Rwanda submitted her definitive bid book to host the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
