Kigali: Rwanda’s Central Bank has announced plans to issue treasury bills amounting to ten billion francs (US$12). The bids for the five-year bond will commence on 22 February 2017 and coupons will be determined by the market.
Proceeds from the bond will enable the financing of infrastructure projects and, at the same time, stimulate the local capital market.
Previously, Rwanda has issued bonds to fund infrastructure projects and this year’s bond is expected to be oversubscribed as from previous ones.
Subscriptions to the treasury bills are open to domestic and foreign investors who are interested and the central bank said the bond will also be listed on the Rwandan stock market on 28 February.
